When your leisure or business travels take you to one of Americans’ favorite major destinations, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore the city beyond tourist landmarks, packed restaurants and long taxi lines. The experts at Hotels.com® have uncovered a selection of hip, culturally-diverse neighborhoods in some of the Top Domestic Destinations as ranked by the most recent Hotel Price Index™ (HPI®) to help travelers not only extend their travel budget, but also have a truly authentic experience in some of America’s top cities.

“Consumers have now been trained that flying mid-week is better for their wallet, but when visiting major cities, hotels in downtown areas typically have higher rates and lower inventory due to business travel and conventions,” says Taylor L. Cole, APR, travel expert for Hotels.com. “This is the perfect time to explore other neighborhoods of cities like New York and Chicago and save on the hotel stay and flight. Travelers can use that extra money to take in a show, dine at a top-rated restaurant or have an adventure in the new area of town they’re exploring.”

Check out this list of 10 of the most popular domestic travel destinations, their average hotel prices according the the latest HPI, the trendiest neighborhoods in each city and why a stay there will not only save you money but also be a rewarding experience.
