Cathay Pacific cancels more New York flights

Cathay Pacific Airways announced that the following flights on Tuesday and Wednesday (31 October) have been cancelled due to the closure of the John F Kennedy International Airport until further notice and the adverse weather caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Flights CX888 on 31 October will be operating between Hong Kong and Vancouver only and the sector between Vancouver and New York will be cancelled. Online and mobile check-in for all flights to and from New York has been suspended.

“The current closure of John F Kennedy International Airport underscores the storm’s significant impact on New York City. It may take some time for the airport to become fully functional again. While we will endeavour to restore flights as soon as possible, this may take longer than expected,” said a Cathay Pacific spokesperson.

Passengers booked on the cancelled flights are advised not to go to the airport. Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers.

The airline will waive all rebooking and rerouting charges for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before 28 October 2012 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving New York between 29 October and 31 October 2012.
