Russian Railways introduces a number of innovations for the passenger traffic. A new flexible pricing, special tourist trains as well as discount tickets to the Black Sea and the North Caucasus resorts are among them.
One of these innovations aims to increase the use of railway transport for domestic tourist flow. A special program "Five Fridays" will start in autumn 2012, it will launch a series of tourist trains between regional cultural centers of Russia for weekend trips. Tourists will have an opportunity to buy tickets for special trains leaving on Friday night, spend Saturday sightseeing and come back on Sunday morning. This tour price will include a trip by train to and fro from different cities, sightseeing and meals.
According to RZD, they have reached an agreement to launch seven trains on the following routes: Samara - Moscow, Samara - Penza, Samara - Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk - Kungur, Yekaterinburg - Tobolsk, Moscow - Kostroma.
The first special tourist train in the frame of "Five Fridays" project is planned to launch on the route Samara - Moscow - Samara in September.A special tourist train on the route Moscow - Novgorod - Tver - Torzhok – Moscow was launched last Friday.
