Monrovia Joins Exciting New Flight Routes to Turkey with Turkish Airlines

Between June and December 2026, the skies are set to get busier as Turkish Airlines and its budget affiliate Pegasus Airlines announce significant expansions to their international network. This surge focuses particularly on regions like Central Asia and Europe, aligning with Turkey’s dynamic strategy to enhance global connectivity and optimize aircraft usage, ultimately driving profitability. The Turkish aviation industry is undergoing a transformative phase with several new routes officially launching alongside adjusted schedules for existing services.

Highlighting New Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Routes

As part of this extensive expansion, Turkish Airlines is unveiling new routes starting in June 2026. Travelers can look forward to the following exciting new services:

  • Oral (Kazakhstan) to Istanbul (SAW): Pegasus Airlines will commence twice-weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays from June 4, 2026. This connection between the major Kazakh city and Istanbul will boost both business travel and tourism prospects.
  • Izmir to Porto (Portugal): Launching on November 5, 2026, SunExpress will operate twice-weekly flights to Porto, enriching travel opportunities between Turkey’s third-largest city, Izmir, and the picturesque Portuguese port. This route will be available throughout the 2026/27 winter season.
  • Antalya to Cork (Ireland): Another seasonal addition, SunExpress will start services between Antalya, a renowned tourist hotspot, and Cork in early July 2026, catering to those seeking Mediterranean getaways.
  • Istanbul (IST) and Paris (CDG): Pegasus Airlines will reinstate its popular flights between these two iconic cities in the latter half of 2026, appealing to tourists and business professionals alike.

Enhancing Existing Routes and Frequency Adjustments

Alongside launching new routes, Turkish Airlines is also set to increase flight frequencies on key services beginning June 2026. A notable enhancement is the increased frequency on flights between:

  • Istanbul (IST) and Yerevan (Armenia): Turkish Airlines will bolster its service to Yerevan with 14 weekly flights commencing in June 2026, corresponding with the growing interest in travel between countries in the South Caucasus region.

Expanding Connectivity to East Asia

With tourism from East Asia advancing as a significant market, Turkish Airlines is ramping up its services in this sector. Beginning October 25, 2026, the airline will increase capacity and frequencies for several critical routes connecting Istanbul with major East Asian cities, such as:

  • Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei, and Phuket, all of which will experience a boost in service frequency and aircraft upgrades tailored to evolving travel demands.
  • Tokyo Narita (NRT): The service connecting Istanbul to Tokyo will also see a rise in frequency to 10 flights weekly for the summer 2026 season, enhancing accessibility for travelers heading to Japan’s capital.

Strengthening Global Reach with New Destinations

Turkish Airlines continues to broaden its horizons with an array of enticing new destinations set for 2026. Among the key additions are:

  • Monrovia, Liberia
  • Bissau, Guinea-Bissau
  • Chengdu, China
  • Urumqi, China
  • Timișoara, Romania

This comprehensive expansion aligns with Turkish Airlines’ goal of penetrating under-served regions experiencing a rise in travel interest. New aircraft deliveries anticipated in the second half of 2026 will further empower the airline to accommodate increased passenger demand and enhance international travel options.

Strategic Aircraft Redeployment Initiatives

To align with its growth strategy, Turkish Airlines will initiate a pivotal redeployment of aircraft starting in June 2026, which includes the cessation of 18 lesser-performing international routes, such as Havana and Billund. The reallocation of these aircraft towards more lucrative routes demonstrates the airline’s commitment to optimizing its fleet for superior profitability and operational excellence.

Through this ambitious network expansion between June and December 2026, Turkish Airlines is poised to cement its status as a key player in the global aviation landscape. With new routes and frequency upgrades catering to both leisure and business travelers, the airline is set to elevate the flying experience for passengers around the world.
