Dubai is set to revolutionize its commuting landscape with the ambitious Al Shindagha Corridor Project, spearheaded by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This extensive initiative is projected to reduce travel times across the corridor dramatically, cutting the average journey from 104 minutes down to merely 16 minutes by 2030. Among the standout features of the Al Shindagha Corridor Project is the nearing completion of the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel, now at 80 percent completion. To further streamline traffic movement, several roundabouts along Cairo Street and Al Wuheida Street are being converted into signalized intersections, contributing to smarter traffic management in these bustling areas. Moreover, plans for enhancements to roads in surrounding regions including Abu Hail and Al Mamzar will ensure that local traffic demands are met efficiently while providing a safer commuting experience.
Adding to the excitement is a new bridge, currently under construction, which will directly connect Bur Dubai to the upcoming Dubai Islands. Spanning 1,425 meters, the bridge will feature four lanes in either direction, allowing for 16,000 vehicles per hour. The construction efforts have recorded almost eight million safe work hours with zero lost-time injuries, showcasing a commendable commitment to safety throughout this extensive project.
