Adora Magic City Expands Summer Offerings with Exciting Southeast Asia Cruises

In an exciting development for cruise enthusiasts, the Adora Magic City, China’s first large domestically built cruise vessel, has unveiled a comprehensive summer itinerary that includes multi-day voyages across Southeast Asia. Departing from its newly designated homeport in Shekou, Shenzhen, the ship is set to embark on these journeys between August 13 and September 16, 2026.

This new schedule features an assortment of five- to six-night trips to stunning Vietnamese ports, including the cultural hubs of Hue, Ha Long Bay, and Nha Trang. Additionally, the cruises will include stops in Jeju, South Korea. Highlighting the summer offerings is a unique nine-day, eight-night “Maritime Silk Road Discovery Voyage,” which will navigate through Kota Kinabalu, Muara, and Nha Trang, allowing passengers to experience diverse cultures and picturesque landscapes.

Since commencing operations in January 2024, the Adora Magic City has successfully completed its 200th voyage as of May 5, 2026, docking at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal. With over 700,000 passengers onboard since its debut, the cruise ship exemplifies the remarkable evolution of China’s domestic cruise industry.

The Adora Magic City previously operated primarily from Shanghai, providing regular sailings to popular South Korean destinations such as Jeju, Busan, and Incheon. The itineraries typically range from short three-night escapes to extended six-night cultural explorations. Special holiday cruises have also catered to domestic travelers seeking both quick getaways and immersive journeys. Notably, a seven-day trip is scheduled for October 1, 2026, encompassing key stops in Jeju, Busan, and Yeosu.

This summer marks a significant expansion for the Adora Magic City, shifting its operational base to Shekou Cruise Home Port for the first time. Passengers can expect both five-day and six-day itineraries that combine cultural richness with scenic beauty, encompassing visits to historic landmarks, vibrant cities, and stunning natural wonders.

A standout on this season’s schedule is the nine-day “Maritime Silk Road Discovery Voyage,” launching on August 27. This remarkable journey promises to enrich passengers with a cultural tapestry as it retraces historic maritime routes connecting East and Southeast Asia. The cruise will stop at key destinations such as Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and Muara in Brunei.

Moreover, the Adora Magic City will introduce China’s very first “cruise to nowhere” on June 6, 2026. This innovative three-day, two-night weekend sail from Shanghai will emphasize the onboard experience, featuring an array of entertainment, dining options, and wellness activities while bypassing port stops. This cruise type indicates a growing trend among domestic travelers who are increasingly prioritizing the lifestyle and leisure experiences found at sea.

As a vessel, the Adora Magic City is a remarkable demonstration of China’s shipbuilding prowess, showcasing the nation’s ability to design, construct, and manage a cruise ship that meets international safety and service standards. The successful completion of over 700,000 passenger voyages within just over two years highlights a burgeoning demand for cruise tourism in China and affirms the feasibility of delivering competitive and high-quality cruise experiences.

The Adora Magic City has not only established a pattern of successful operations, but it has also paved the way for innovation within China’s cruise sector. With homeports now in both Shanghai and Shenzhen and a variety of itineraries across South Korea and Southeast Asia, the Adora Magic City exemplifies a diversification in travel options and elevates the passenger experience. This focus on cultural exposure and immersive onboard experiences reflects a transformative shift in the cruise industry, making it a cornerstone for travelers in the region.

As the Adora Magic City embarks on this exciting expansion with voyages to Vietnam, Jeju, and beyond, the ship’s innovative approaches and robust itineraries are poised to set benchmarks for the future of cruise travel in China. The developments highlight both the ship’s importance in the domestic tourism market and China’s evolving identity within the global cruise sector.
