Air New Zealand has announced it will resume nonstop service between Singapore and Christchurch starting from late October 2026. The Christchurch route had been inactive since February 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused widespread disruptions across the airline industry. Fast forward to 2026, and Air New Zealand is rolling out upgraded Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft featuring sophisticated cabin enhancements designed to elevate passenger comfort and experience.

Beginning on October 28, 2026, the new service will operate three times weekly, continuing until March 26, 2027. The flights will utilize the revamped Dreamliner, which includes new cabin features and technology, allowing passengers a smoother journey. Travelers can expect a flight time of about 9 hours and 55 minutes from Singapore to Christchurch, while the return trip will take approximately 10 hours and 35 minutes.
The rebooted Christchurch route is a welcome addition for those based in Singapore, supplementing existing services from Singapore Airlines. Over the Southern Hemisphere summer, Air New Zealand is anticipated to provide approximately 34,000 seats on this route, enhancing travel potential for tourists and business travelers alike.
As Christchurch secures its position as an international gateway, tourism authorities are keenly focused on making direct air access a priority, urging increased global connectivity to stimulate economic revival and disperse visitors more evenly across New Zealand’s stunning regions.

The aircraft will accommodate 272 passengers, offering an array of seating options, including 26 Business Premier seats, 33 Premium Economy seats, and 213 Economy Class seats.

Although the new retrofit won’t feature the anticipated Skynest sleeping pods, the enhancements are seen as some of the most significant in years.
Air New Zealand’s redesigned Business Premier seats have garnered much attention for their innovative layout and luxurious privacy features. Set in a herringbone configuration, each seat provides direct access to the aisle, and converts to a fully flat bed measuring approximately two meters. Passengers can expect 24-inch entertainment displays alongside advanced connectivity options.
Passengers looking for an extra touch of luxury can opt for the newly introduced Business Premier Luxe, which features additional privacy with sliding doors and exclusive seating. This enhanced experience comes at a premium cost, providing a compelling option for discerning travelers.
Air New Zealand is not just enhancing its Business Premier cabin; notable upgrades have been made across Premium Economy and Economy Class as well. Premium Economy features ergonomic seats and adjustable headrests, while travelers in Economy Class can enjoy some of the largest inflight entertainment screens available. Additionally, the innovative Skycouch option allows for a more versatile seating arrangement, adapting to passengers’ needs for relaxation during these long-haul flights.
In tandem with these aviation developments, Silversea has kicked off its 2026 cruise season for Alaska and the Arctic, expanding luxury expedition opportunities. This initiative highlights a burgeoning demand for immersive travel experiences in some of the world’s most stunning and secluded destinations. Starting May 14, Silversea commenced its Alaska itineraries featuring 30 scheduled voyages aboard the elegant Silver Whisper and Silver Moon, ensuring guests can explore iconic ports and hidden gems along the coastline.
The following day saw the launch of their 21-voyage Arctic program, which traverses four countries and 55 destinations, including Svalbard and Disko Bay. Passengers can expect unforgettable experiences such as guided hikes, kayaking outings, and extensive wildlife observation.
