Qatar Airways is set to enhance connectivity across the African continent and the Indian Ocean by introducing increased flight frequencies and reinstating services to several key destinations. Starting in June and July 2026, new and expanded routes will include popular spots such as Seychelles, Kigali, Marrakesh, Cairo, Cape Town, Alexandria, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka, Harare, Maputo, and Durban. Additionally, a new service to Port Sudan from Doha will commence, enhancing travel options and boosting tourism in these countries.
Effective June 16, 2026, Qatar Airways will resume four weekly flights to Seychelles and introduce two weekly flights to Kigali. These routes will reconnect travelers from Doha and other international markets with key travel hotspots in the African and Indian Ocean region. Renowned for its stunning beaches and natural beauty, Seychelles serves as an iconic destination for luxury vacations and marine adventures, while Kigali is increasingly favored for its growing prominence in conference and eco-tourism, as well as offering unique itineraries throughout East Africa.

On July 1, 2026, the airline will also initiate daily flights to Marrakesh. This development marks a significant increase in connectivity between the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, enhancing access to Morocco’s vibrant tourism sector. Marrakesh, known for its rich history, cultural attractions, and exquisite hospitality offerings, is expected to benefit from the increased flight options, particularly during the peak summer and autumn travel seasons.

The frequency of flights to Alexandria will expand from three to seven times a week, while Cairo flights will increase from 28 to 35 weekly services. Turning to South Africa, Qatar Airways is increasing its Cape Town services from seven to ten weekly flights. The new flight schedules will help accommodate rising visitor numbers from long-haul markets, enhancing accessibility during peak travel periods.
Focusing on expanding East African connections, Qatar Airways will elevate its flights to Dar es Salaam from three to seven weekly services. Starting July 2, 2026, Qatar Airways will unveil a new three-times-weekly service connecting Doha and Port Sudan, operating every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This route extends the airline’s reach into the Red Sea region of Sudan, offering additional connectivity for travelers, business professionals, and enhancing regional accessibility.
As a coastal city along the Red Sea, Port Sudan serves as a gateway for marine tourism, diving activities, and coastal trade. The introduction of this service will enhance travel options to northeastern Africa while reinforcing regional aviation networks through Doha’s Hamad International Airport.
