Azamara Cruises is set to redefine destination immersion with their most extensive schedule yet for 2028. With a remarkable 87 percent of cruise time spent in port, guests can enjoy over 360 late nights and overnights. This means that more than half of all port days extend well into the evening, allowing travelers to delve into Japan, South Korea, and China like never before. Additionally, Europe remains a central element of the itinerary lineup, rich with small-ship adventures.

These upcoming cruises have been crafted to give guests the opportunity to connect with both iconic cities and lesser-known harbors, creating a travel experience more akin to a city break than a fleeting port stop. Moreover, the entire season will showcase the advancements of the Azamara Forward modernization initiative, ensuring vessels like Azamara Quest and Azamara Onward are fully refurbished to provide a five-star hotel experience at sea.

An Immersive Asia Experience on Azamara Pursuit

For the very first time, Azamara will host a full, immersive sailing season in Asia aboard the Azamara Pursuit. This significant initiative consists of 33 Asia voyages, including nine Combination Cruises that allow guests to visit multiple countries—especially Japan, South Korea, and China—without the hassle of repeated fly-cruise transitions.

In honor of Azamara’s Destination Immersion philosophy, many Asia itineraries are strategically scheduled to coincide with over 10 regional festivals. This means guests will have the chance to experience vibrant lantern-lit streets, seasonal temple festivities, and local cultural ceremonies that typical cruising itineraries often overlook. With its small-ship design, the Azamara Pursuit can dock at ports that larger vessels cannot reach, allowing greater access to both famous and emerging destinations.

Europe Continues to be the Backbone of the Brand

While the focus on Asia is noteworthy, Europe remains a critical aspect of Azamara’s operations, with an astounding 85 European cruises planned for the 2028 season. This segment features 10 Grand Voyages and 48 country-intensive itineraries, many structured as Combination Cruises to maximize exploration in regions like Greece, Italy, and Croatia.

Azamara is dedicated to pairing major cities with charming, character-rich ports, enabling guests to enjoy both bustling capitals and quaint fishing villages. This approach encourages a deeper understanding of European culture, from local markets and tavernas to historical landmarks that are often overlooked in traditional day-trips.

New Maiden Ports in Europe and Asia

The 2028 program features 12 maiden ports across Europe and Asia, appealing to seasoned travelers eager to explore new destinations. Notable new stops include Caen in France, a gateway to Normandy’s WWII history, and Sokcho in South Korea, offering access to the stunning Seoraksan National Park.

In Japan, travelers will visit Tokushima and Miyazaki (Aburatsu), known for stunning coastal scenery and rich traditions, while Delphi (Itea) in Greece provides easy access to some of the country’s most revered archaeological wonders. Other exciting ports include Porto Empedocle in Sicily, Dublin (Dún Laoghaire) in Ireland, and Liepāja in Latvia, all reinforcing Azamara’s commitment to unique cruise experiences.

Enhanced Experiences through Scenic River Transits

Several 2028 itineraries elevate the experience by incorporating extended scenic cruising through some of the world’s most picturesque waterways. Travelers will sail the Guadalquivir into Seville, glide down the Garonne into Bordeaux, and follow the Seine into Rouen, offering a unique approach to each region’s striking landscapes and charming towns.

In Asia, similar rivers play a crucial role, with journeys that include the Mekong Delta en route to Ho Chi Minh City and the mighty Yangtze into Shanghai, allowing travelers breathtaking views of rural life and vibrant cityscapes before they disembark. These features align with Azamara’s Extended Destination Days concept, presenting opportunities for in-depth touring adventures.

Specialty Cruises for Global Events

To cater to the increasing demand for event-focused travel, Azamara is introducing a lineup of Specialty Cruises that correspond with significant global events. Highlights include Grand Prix-themed sailings, allowing guests to soak in the vibrant racing atmosphere, as well as itineraries focused on The 156th Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, with Azamara Journey calling in Liverpool.

These voyages are crafted for those looking for excitement, combining world-class events with evenings spent exploring local cuisines and vibrant nightlife, perfect for multi-generational groups and special celebrations.

Early Booking Savings for Traveling Adventurers

To incentivize early travel planning, Azamara is extending its Early Booking Bonus across the spring, summer, and autumn of 2028, offering discounts of up to 30% for guests who book their staterooms early. Along with these savings, travelers will enjoy Azamara’s Always Azamara inclusions, which cover a selection of dining options, beverages, gratuities, and enriching cultural events, all contributing to a relaxed onboard atmosphere.

With a fleet of just four intimate ships—Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, Azamara Pursuit, and Azamara Onward—the line emphasizes personalized service and prime docking locations that allow greater immersion in local cultures. These elements offer a truly enriching travel experience, especially for those voyaging through Japan, South Korea, and China, where exploring ordinary neighborhoods can reveal extraordinary experiences.
