Meliá Hotels International Reveals Ambitious Expansion Plans for Ho Tram Beach Resort in Vietnam

In a bold move to bolster its presence in Vietnam, Meliá Hotels International has announced a significant expansion of the Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort, in collaboration with Tanzanite International. This expansion is set against the backdrop of Vietnam’s growing appeal as a premier beach destination, supported by increasing domestic tourism and enhanced regional transportation links.

The resort’s expansion, expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2028, will include a substantial increase in accommodations, adding 191 new rooms and suites to the existing offering. This upgrade is designed to cater to an increasingly diverse range of guests, from families on short vacations to long-term wellness seekers.

Positioned as a holistic lifestyle destination rather than just a traditional beach resort, the enhanced Meliá Ho Tram will integrate leisure, wellness, recreational activities, and residential living. Among the exciting updates is the introduction of five new swimming pools, including a striking rooftop pool that promises stunning views of the coastline. Alongside these facilities, improvements to dining areas, fitness centers, and relaxation zones will further elevate the guest experience.

As travel trends continue to shift towards immersive and enriching experiences, Meliá Ho Tram is responding by emphasizing wellness and family-friendly amenities. The expansion will see a complete redesign of family facilities, featuring an innovative Kids Club with interactive play zones and a treehouse-themed area. In addition, an outdoor space dedicated to teenage guests will enhance the resort’s appeal to families.

Looking ahead, a full-sized football pitch is scheduled to be completed by June 2026, enhancing the resort’s outdoor recreational offerings. This facility is intended for both casual family activities and organized sports, solidifying the resort’s identity as an active lifestyle destination.

Wellness remains a key component of the expansion. Starting in August 2026, Meliá will launch a “Wellness Inclusive” program that weaves health-focused experiences throughout the entire guest journey. This program will encompass wellness-designed accommodations, guided meditation, yoga sessions, spa treatments, and curated wellness experiences around the scenic Ho Tram area. Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in traditional relaxation therapies, including onsen baths, sauna rituals, and steam-based treatments.

Additionally, nature-inspired wellness experiences like forest bathing and local cultural workshops will allow guests to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region, providing restorative travel experiences that connect them to their surroundings.

The expansion also includes the introduction of The Indochine Residences at Meliá Ho Tram, a collection of branded residential options integrated into the resort’s masterplan. Offering a range of accommodations—from two- and three-bedroom units to duplexes and penthouses—these residences are aimed at both private owners and investors. Managed under the hotel’s operational model, residents will benefit from access to resort-style services and rental management opportunities.

This trend of blending lifestyle ownership with hospitality management aligns with broader movement across Asia, as more hotel brands venture into residential offerings. The project is positioned to attract second-home buyers and long-term visitors to Ho Tram, further enhancing the area’s appeal.

Economically, the expansion is projected to create over 1,000 construction jobs and approximately 500 ongoing roles once the resort opens its doors, encompassing a range of positions in hospitality, wellness services, food and beverage, and recreation management. This job creation is poised to benefit the local community and stimulate tourism-related employment growth in southern Vietnam.

The expansion of Meliá Ho Tram is also in line with significant infrastructure improvements in the region, particularly the planned Long Thanh International Airport, set to dramatically enhance air connectivity by positioning itself just 66 kilometers from Ho Tram. Improved transportation links will facilitate easier access to the resort from major cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, thereby driving further growth.

Ho Tram is emerging as a favored coastal destination in southern Vietnam, combining convenient access with a more tranquil beachfront atmosphere compared to its more established counterparts. Rising investments in luxury resorts and integrated tourism projects further strengthen its market position.

As Meliá embarks on this expansion, it signifies a strategic move to enhance its competitiveness in a thriving market. The addition of diverse accommodations, wellness programs, and family-centered facilities positions the resort as an all-encompassing destination for various traveler segments. By 2028, Meliá Ho Tram is on track to evolve into a notable hub for luxury and wellness tourism in southern Vietnam.
