In an exciting development for air travel enthusiasts and business travelers alike, Star Air has reintroduced its scheduled flights on the Hyderabad–Jharsuguda–Bhubaneswar route. This reinstatement marks an important step toward enhancing connectivity between the two states of Telangana and Odisha, with six weekly services now available to the public.
The resumption of this vital corridor is part of Star Air’s ongoing commitment to bolster point-to-point and one-stop travel options between major industrial hubs and bustling urban centers. The added services cater to the growing demand for efficient intercity travel in South and East India, enabling ease of movement for both leisure and business passengers.

This route serves as a direct link from the vibrant city of Hyderabad, known for its thriving technology and business landscape, to Jharsuguda in western Odisha, a region recognized for its industrial significance. Additionally, the service connects travelers to Bhubaneswar, the state capital that plays a crucial role in administration, education, infrastructure development, and tourism.
Star Air aims to enhance travel convenience with this renewed service, facilitating passenger movement and encouraging regional trade across the three cities. The flights operate six days a week, allowing travelers to plan their journeys efficiently.
The flight schedule anticipates departures starting with S5 226 from Hyderabad at 08:40, landing in Jharsuguda at 10:25. The journey continues with S5 605, departing Jharsuguda at 11:10 and arriving in Bhubaneswar by noon. The return trip is equally seamless, with S5 606 leaving Bhubaneswar at 12:30 and arriving in Jharsuguda at 13:20, followed by S5 227, which takes off from Jharsuguda at 13:50 and touches down in Hyderabad at 15:35.
This structured routing provides passengers with both direct flight options and convenient one-stop travel paths between Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar. Such flexibility caters to a diverse range of travelers, from professionals to vacationers, making the journey more accessible and user-friendly.
Additionally, the new service is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time compared to conventional surface transportation and other indirect air routes. By fostering stronger connections between these economically vital regions, Star Air enhances access for both business and leisure travel.
Hyderabad stands tall as one of India’s most prominent hubs for IT services, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, and manufacturing. Its status as a major aviation gateway in southern India amplifies the need for improved regional air links to secondary cities, facilitating economic activity and connectivity.
On the other hand, Jharsuguda has emerged as an influential industrial center within Odisha, with notable growth in sectors such as mining, energy, and heavy industries. Since its inception in 2019, Star Air has focused on connecting underserved destinations with major cities under India’s regional connectivity framework. Currently, the airline serves 31 destinations across the country, having transported nearly three million passengers.
Star Air is also a participant in the Government of India’s UDAN scheme, aimed at enhancing the affordability and accessibility of air travel to smaller cities through regional route development.
The domestic aviation sector in India has been experiencing a steady rise in regional travel demand, fueled by economic growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and a growing preference for time-efficient intercity transport. Presently, Star Air operates approximately 455 weekly flights, a number poised to increase to around 550 flights per week during the upcoming summer schedule.
The airline’s fleet consists of 12 Embraer regional aircraft, including the E175 and E145 models, which are adeptly suited for short-haul domestic operations and regional networks. The E175 accommodates higher-capacity routes, while the E145 is optimized for routes serving smaller airports, allowing for better scheduling flexibility.
In line with its long-term growth strategy, Star Air plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years, further enhancing its reach into new regional markets and increasing flight frequencies on existing routes.
The Hyderabad–Jharsuguda–Bhubaneswar corridor is expected to reinforce economic ties between Telangana and Odisha, facilitating quicker passenger movements and improving connectivity between service-driven and industrial economies.
