This direct flight service follows Airlink’s announcement of Johannesburg to Zanzibar flights beginning in June 2026, further establishing Zanzibar as a standout Indian Ocean getaway in Airlink’s expanding regional network. The new flight service will operate once a week on Saturdays, commencing on October 3, 2026. The journey is estimated to take just over six hours. Flight 4Z 356 is scheduled to depart Cape Town at 08:15, landing in Zanzibar at 14:30 local time, accounting for the one-hour time difference as Zanzibar operates on East Africa Time.
The return service, Flight 4Z 357, will leave Zanzibar at 15:30, arriving back in Cape Town at 20:50. These timing arrangements cater well to vacationers, making it a perfect opportunity for a week-long holiday retreat that combines the allure of Zanzibar’s beaches and historic sites with a visit to the vibrant city of Cape Town.
Airlink is set to operate its latest Embraer E195‑E2 aircraft on the Cape Town–Zanzibar route, which is designed to enhance the travel experience. This state-of-the-art model, part of Embraer’s updated E‑Jet E2 series, is configured to carry approximately 150 passengers in an all-economy arrangement that features a spacious 2-2 seat layout. This means no middle seats, promoting comfort during flights.

Tickets can be switched to the new direct service at no extra charge, provided travelers remain in the same fare class.
