The Bihar government has rolled out an extensive initiative aimed at supporting students preparing for the NEET-UG re-examination, slated for June 21, 2026. This new policy aims to alleviate the financial and logistical challenges faced by countless families throughout the state. As part of this initiative, students who possess a valid hall ticket for the national test will enjoy free transportation on all state-run buses, providing much-needed relief during this critical academic period.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has reached out to various stakeholders, including district administrations, local temples, and numerous non-governmental organisations, urging them to work together to create support kiosks at strategic locations. These kiosks will offer essential resources, such as clean drinking water and sattu, a nutritious flour made from roasted pulses and cereals, to candidates and their accompanying guardians.
These kiosks aim to be strategically positioned in high-traffic areas like prominent bus stands and major railway stations across Bihar. By providing traditional food sources like sattu, which is rich in protein, the initiative ensures that individuals traveling long distances in challenging summer heat can maintain their energy. The participation of community organizations is vital for addressing the influx of travelers expected on examination day, with detailed instructions being prepared for district magistrates to manage these operations effectively.
This re-examination arises from significant disruptions experienced during the initial NEET-UG cycle. The first test, conducted on May 3, was canceled amid widespread allegations of a paper leak. To protect the integrity of the selection process for aspiring medical students, an investigation was swiftly initiated, now being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation. This examination aims to restore public confidence in the examination system and provide a fair chance for candidates.
Given the lapse of the initial examination cycle, the National Testing Agency has announced a new date of June 21 for the test. This change necessitates substantial preparation on both the part of the students and local authorities who must facilitate transportation logistics. By offering free transit, the government hopes to ease some of the mental and financial strains that the student community has faced in the wake of recent events.
To accommodate the high volume of student commuters, tailored schedules are being developed by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation.
