Iberia, Spain’s prominent airline, has commenced direct flights connecting Madrid and Monterrey, Mexico, a major advancement in travel between Europe and Latin America. With this new route operating three times weekly, both business and leisure travellers can now enjoy improved connectivity while reinforcing Iberia’s foothold in Mexico, the airline’s largest market in Latin America based on seat capacity.
This fresh flight initiative is a significant element of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030, aimed at enhancing the airline’s global presence, especially between Europe and Latin America. The new Madrid–Monterrey service complements existing flights to Mexico City, facilitating a combined capacity that exceeds 820,000 seats annually, representing an 8% increase from last year. This enhancement enables passengers to access more than 100 destinations across Spain, Europe, Africa, and Asia through connections at the Madrid hub.

Travellers interested in flying with Iberia can book flights on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Departures from Madrid are scheduled at 13:10, landing in Monterrey at 17:05 local time. The return flight leaves Monterrey at 18:35, arriving in Madrid the following day at 13:05. The service is conducted using Airbus A330‑200 aircraft, providing comfortable seating for 288 passengers in both Business and Economy classes, which marries capacity with premium service quality.
The inaugural flight saw festivities at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Iberia executives and Aena representatives. To celebrate the occasion, Business Class passengers enjoyed traditional margarita cocktails, while all passengers sampled Mexican sweets in a gesture that also included commemorative gifts.
