Flynas Launches New Direct Route Connecting Riyadh and Aleppo: A Gateway to Regional Exploration

In a significant advancement for regional travel connectivity, Flynas, Saudi Arabia’s leading low-cost airline, has announced the launch of direct flight services from Riyadh to Aleppo, commencing in August 2026. This new route marks a pivotal step in enhancing air travel links between Saudi Arabia and Syria, supporting not only the revival of tourism but also the overall growth of aviation in the region. Through this twice-weekly service, Flynas will facilitate quicker and more convenient travel between these two historic cities.

Flynas will operate flights between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Aleppo International Airport every Wednesday and Saturday. The schedule not only provides a direct alternative for travelers, reducing reliance on connecting flights, but also signifies the revival of Gulf airlines in Aleppo, following Flynas’ earlier re-establishment of services in Damascus. As tourism opportunities begin to blossom, this new route is expected to significantly improve passenger mobility and contribute to the region’s tourism growth.

Enhancing Connectivity between Riyadh and Aleppo

The new Riyadh to Aleppo flights take approximately two and a half hours each way. The outbound flight departs from Riyadh at 12:00 PM, arriving at Aleppo at 2:30 PM, while the return flight leaves Aleppo at 3:30 PM, reaching Riyadh by 6:10 PM. This practical schedule allows passengers to maximize their time in both cities, catering to tourists and business professionals alike.

Among Aleppo’s attractions are its rich cultural heritage and remarkable historical sites, such as ancient architecture and bustling traditional markets. The new route not only facilitates easier access for Saudi travelers but also opens up Aleppo’s treasures to visitors from around the world, promoting cultural exchange and tourism between the two nations.

Affordable Travel Options Fueling Demand

To further entice travelers, Flynas is providing competitive fares for the Riyadh to Aleppo route, with one-way tickets starting at SAR1,110 (approximately USD 296) and return tickets from Aleppo to Riyadh beginning at SAR823 (around USD 219). This pricing strategy aligns with Flynas’ low-cost model and aims to stimulate travel demand, strengthen family ties and enhance connections for business endeavors.

The affordability of air travel is crucial as regional aviation continues to expand and revitalize. Such economic pricing is a strategic measure to increase tourism flows and make travel more accessible between Saudi Arabia and Syria, ultimately contributing to the larger growth of the tourism sector within the region.

Supporting Syria’s Aviation Landscape

Flynas’ expansion into Aleppo will enhance its existing operations in Syria, where the airline already services Damascus. With the launch of these new flights, Flynas becomes the second airline to establish a connection with Aleppo, following the recent announcement from Flydubai, which also plans to resume flights to this historic city.

Following the revitalization of flights to Damascus in June 2025, Flynas currently operates 24 weekly flights connecting Saudi Arabia to the Syrian capital. With this new Aleppo service, the airline is providing more options for travelers and reinforcing its commitment to developing a robust air travel network in the Middle East.

A Vision for Future Growth

Beyond immediate route expansion, Flynas is planning a joint-venture airline in Syria set to launch in late 2026. This ambitious project aims to enhance the domestic and regional air connectivity within Syria, creating opportunities for increased passenger movement and supporting the country’s tourism recovery.

As regional airlines continue to increase their focus on the previously underserved aviation markets, strengthening connections with and within Syria is essential for economic revitalization and tourism growth. Improved airline capacity can significantly contribute to regional development by attracting international visitors and supporting local tourism businesses.

Flynas’ International Expansion Amid Growing Demand

The new Riyadh to Aleppo route is part of Flynas’ broader commitment to expand its international network, with recent additions of European destinations such as Rome, Munich, and Budapest. This growth underpins Flynas’ position as a major player in the Middle Eastern aviation landscape and enhances travel options for passengers seeking diverse international destinations.

With services operating from its major hubs in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah, Flynas is dedicated to connecting travelers to over 25 destinations across Europe, Africa, and Asia, all while supporting Saudi Arabia’s substantial investments in tourism development and airport infrastructure.

Revitalizing Aleppo: Cultural and Historical Treasures Await

The renewed connectivity to Aleppo comes at a time when the city is regaining its status as a vital cultural destination. Known for its rich historical significance, Aleppo’s ancient neighborhoods, traditional markets, and stunning architectural landmarks are poised to attract greater numbers of tourists. Improved air connectivity can help position Aleppo within the regional tourism landscape, making it easier for travelers to explore this extraordinary city.

A Bright Future for Middle Eastern Tourism

The establishment of Flynas flights between Riyadh and Aleppo heralds a new era of travel within the Middle East. This direct connection enhances accessibility and affordability, ultimately fostering regional tourism and cultural exchange. As Flynas continues to expand its operations in Syria, alongside the resurgence of other airlines, the future looks promising for the revival of travel links across the region.

The new Riyadh to Aleppo route is now set to become an integral part of the Middle East travel network, paving the way for increased exploration and adventure in this diverse and historical region.
