As a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience caused, Carnival is granting a non-transferable onboard credit of one hundred dollars per stateroom, which can be applied to future bookings made by August 31, 2026.

During the IT outage, travelers encountered cruise prices that were dramatically reduced, with some balcony fares reportedly available for as low as one hundred thirty dollars. Typically, these rates range from six hundred to fifteen hundred dollars per person, creating considerable confusion and excitement among potential cruisers.

The technical difficulties impacted the booking platforms, including Carnival.com and GoCCL.com, limiting customers’ abilities to make or manage reservations, process payments, check in online, purchase items from the Fun Shop, or even access their booking dashboards. Carnival’s contact centers were also unable to assist travelers during this downtime.

Cancellations Supported by Ticket Contract Clauses

Carnival’s ticket contract includes provisions for scenarios where fares are displayed incorrectly due to human, electronic, or typographical errors. Under this policy, the cruise line has the right to either request the correct fare from guests or cancel those bookings while providing a full refund. This contractual clause was referenced by Carnival in support of its decision to cancel affected reservations.

The extended technical difficulties allowed erroneous low pricing to be exposed, and Carnival felt compelled to inform guests that they would not be able to fulfill these bookings.
