Brussels Airport has officially kicked off an important phase of its Hub 3.0 transformation by initiating the relocation of its bus operations to a temporary station. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the airport’s ground transport system.
Starting from May 7, all bus services will function from the new temporary bus station, conveniently located just 100 meters from the main terminal entrance on level 0. This site will serve passengers while the more extensive redevelopment will unfold over the coming years.
The temporary bus facility is set to remain operational for approximately four years as the airport develops its future intermodal transport hub, expected to be finalized around 2030. This ensures that travelers will face no service interruptions during the ongoing construction.
Officials from Brussels Airport have verified that all current bus routes and schedules will remain intact even after the move. This includes key services such as regional bus connections, airport shuttles, and international coach routes linking the airport to various destinations across Belgium and neighboring countries.
The temporary station has been strategically positioned close to the terminal to facilitate easy access for passengers. A dedicated covered walkway will connect the terminal directly to the bus platforms, allowing travelers to transition smoothly between the two locations regardless of weather conditions.
Additionally, a new access point has been engineered to streamline passenger movement and minimize congestion during peak hours. This design aims to maintain an efficient flow between the terminal and transport services amidst the construction activities.
Passengers will also find essential amenities from the previous bus station, such as luggage lockers, relocated to the temporary facility. This move will provide travelers with the convenience of securely storing their bags while they explore the city or wait for onward connections.
The makeshift bus station will consist of five platforms to effectively accommodate the airport’s daily bus traffic.
