Coushatta Casino Resort is unveiling a transformative chapter in its three-decade journey with the grand opening of its new Legacy Tower in mid-May. As Louisiana’s largest casino resort, the property is set to celebrate this ambitious expansion with a ceremony on Friday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to noon in Kinder.
This monumental event highlights the Coushatta Tribe’s dedication to infusing cultural legacy, guest experience, and economic foresight into one substantial upgrade, aimed at redefining the resort’s entrance. The addition of hundreds of new rooms and a stunning arrival feature is expected to enhance the resort’s appeal throughout Southwest Louisiana and into neighboring East Texas.
The grand opening festivities will take place in the newly established lobby of the Legacy Tower at 777 Coushatta Drive, drawing together tribal leaders, resort executives, development partners, and local officials. This program is a tribute to the Coushatta Tribe’s rich heritage, weaving traditional customs with the vision for future growth.
A respected tribal elder will offer a blessing, followed by the introduction of Tribal Princesses and acknowledgement of key partners involved in the project’s development. Notably, TBE Architects, Yates Construction, and The Wenaha Group will be recognized for their pivotal roles in bringing this project from idea to reality.
Key leaders from both the resort and the Tribe will share their perspectives on the strategic significance of this expansion during the ceremony. Nate Tanner, General Manager of Coushatta Casino Resort, will discuss how the new tower enhances guest experiences by streamlining arrival and accommodation services. He describes this opening as a pivotal milestone, emphasizing its commitment to elevating stays and investing in the community.
Chairman David Sickey of the Coushatta Tribe, along with other Tribal Council members, will elaborate on the broader objectives of the “Bigger, Better Coushatta” initiative. Their vision encompasses job creation, cultural preservation, and sustainable economic benefits for both tribal members and neighboring regions. The ceremonial ribbon cutting, attended by local officials and project partners, will officially inaugurate the tower, followed by traditional tribal dances.
Following the ribbon cutting, guests will be invited to a reception crafted to provide a relaxed introduction to the new facilities. This event will feature cake cutting and light refreshments, fostering a celebratory atmosphere for an exploratory tour of the new spaces.
Guests will be able to roam through the lobby, public areas, and select accommodations within the Legacy Tower, gaining insight into how this new wing transforms the overall resort experience. This preview highlights the tower as a central feature that anchors both architectural and experiential elements of the resort.
With the addition of the Legacy Tower, Coushatta Casino Resort expands its lodging options significantly, introducing 204 new guest rooms, of which 100 are luxury suites. This enhancement raises the total room count to over 1,000, allowing for greater flexibility for leisure travelers, groups, and gaming enthusiasts. The tower’s striking entrance features a seven-story LED display, setting an impressive tone as guests arrive.
Inside, the design harmonizes modern comforts with inspirations drawn from Coushatta Tribe traditions. Textures and decorative elements echo traditional basketry, enriching hallways and common areas with meaningful tribal motifs. The new lobby creates a seamless experience, connecting previously detached areas while facilitating navigation between gaming, accommodations, and amenities.
The Legacy Tower’s inauguration represents a significant milestone in the ongoing “Bigger, Better Coushatta” initiative, a strategic plan designed to enhance all aspects of the guest experience. Beyond the immediate visuals, this project aims to support economic growth in Southwest Louisiana. From construction to ongoing operations, it is positioned to boost job opportunities, local consumer spending, and increased visitor stays, solidifying the resort’s role as a key employer and tourism magnet.
For the entire region, this expansion enhances the resort’s competitiveness in attracting destination travelers, especially from nearby Texas metropolitan areas. The new accommodations cater to larger groups of gamers, family visitors, and special events, facilitating a steady flow of repeat customers.
With the launch of Legacy Tower, Coushatta is positioned to broaden its appeal in East Texas and adjacent markets, combining expanded lodging options with a rich variety of gaming and entertainment. As Kinder becomes an appealing weekend or holiday destination, local tourism businesses—including restaurants, retail stores, and attractions—are set to reap the rewards of increased foot traffic.
The resort’s standing as Louisiana’s largest gaming venue, featuring an extensive array of nearly 2,000 slot machines, table games, live poker, bingo, and sports betting, establishes a solid base for this expansion. The addition of the new tower is expected to promote longer visits and higher attendance, positively impacting local economies.
To extend the excitement beyond the opening ceremony, Coushatta Casino Resort will continue the festivities over the weekend. On Saturday, May 16, the resort will host the “Legacy & Luxury Giveaway,” featuring a prize pool of $300,000 in cars and cash. This high-stakes giveaway serves to draw visitors onto the property, showcase the updated facilities, and invite a wider audience to explore the new tower.
Officially, Legacy Tower will welcome its first guests on May 18, 2026. From that date forward, visitors can reserve accommodations in the luxurious new rooms and suites, allowing them to experience the enhanced arrival process, lobby, and guest ambiance that redefine the resort’s vision for growth.
