During this year, Assam welcomed 98,31,141 tourists, including 18,946 international visitors, signifying an impressive resurgence and the strongest tourism performance within the past decade.

This post-pandemic recovery reflects a renewed sense of confidence among travellers, emphasizing Assam’s capability to bounce back as restrictions on international mobility eased. With its enticing natural attractions, improved accessibility, and burgeoning reputation as a safe travel destination, Assam experienced a robust rise in visitor arrivals.

While the growth is commendable, Assam’s tourism industry faced overwhelming challenges during the pandemic. In 2020-21, travel restrictions and global uncertainties led to a sharp decline in tourist traffic, with visitor numbers plunging to 13,52,037, including a mere 347 foreign tourists.

As normalcy resumed and confidence was restored, Assam began to revitalize its tourism sector by enticing visitors through an engaging mix of adventure, nature, culture, and heritage experiences.
