In June, Morocco attracted 1.4 million visitors

In the first six months of 2023, tourist arrivals in Morocco reached 6.5 million. This accounted for 1.4 million visitors and points to new statistics from the Ministry of Morocco Tourism.


The ministry said that the number shows 21% compared to the figures in 2019, mentioning that the increasing trend in tourism is established with the figures for June.

The ministry also highlighted that numerous markets contributed to the encouraging performance.


The ministry said that in tourism arrivals, Spain contributed to a rise of 79% compared to 2019. Later, it has been followed by the UK with 23%, Portugal with 16% and Israel with 96%.


Also, the ministry remembered Morocco tourism’s contribution into Moroccan financial system, emphasizing that tourism in May 2023, churned out MAD 41 billion in foreign currency travel receipts.


The figures represent an outstanding rise of 42% compared to the same time in 2019, the ministry also stated that the positive development to the steps adopted to develop tourism, along with an excellent summer season.


Among the measures is the signing of various numerous affiliations with online travel agencies and tour operators to protect 2.8 million visitors in the summers alone.


While remarking on the performance of this year, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Tourism Minister, said that the signs of the sector shows the good health of their tourism.
