IndiGo to Launch New Commercial Flights from Noida International Airport in June 2026

In an exciting development for air travel enthusiasts and frequent flyers, IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost airline, is set to commence its inaugural commercial flights from the highly anticipated Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. Official operations are slated to begin on June 15, 2026, ushering in a new era for air travel in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). This significant launch aims to enhance regional connectivity, alleviate congestion at existing airports, and open up new travel avenues for domestic passengers throughout India.

Strategically situated in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, Noida International Airport has been crafted to meet the surging demand for air travel in northern India. The airport is expected to complement the operations of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Hindon Airport, aiming to bolster the transportation infrastructure within the region.

Diverse Domestic Routes Planned for Initial Launch

IndiGo has ambitious plans to gradually expand its flight offerings from Noida International Airport, with services to over 16 domestic destinations on the horizon. The airline’s initial focus will be on connecting major metropolitan areas and vital regional routes, enhancing travel options for both business professionals and leisure travelers alike.

Flights to Amritsar and Hyderabad are anticipated to kick off on the opening day, followed by services to Bengaluru and Jammu on June 16. Additional routes commencing in July 2026 will link Noida International Airport to various destinations including Navi Mumbai, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jodhpur, Bareilly, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Srinagar. These new connections are set to significantly benefit travelers across northern India, offering more direct domestic flight options and reducing travel times, particularly for those currently dependent on the busy Delhi airport system.

Enhancing Regional Tourism with Noida Airport

The arrival of Noida International Airport is poised to have a positive ripple effect on tourism and economic growth in the region. Enhanced accessibility to destinations throughout northern and central India is expected to stimulate domestic tourism, especially to culturally and religiously significant sites, as well as popular hill stations linked through the new flight network.

This development is anticipated to bolster tourism in cities such as Jaipur, Srinagar, Dharamshala, and Amritsar, facilitating easier access for travelers arriving from various parts of the country. Furthermore, the airport is expected to support business travel and trade activities, fostering growth in the hospitality sector across Uttar Pradesh and its neighboring states.

Officials envision that the airport will play a crucial role in fortifying India’s aviation infrastructure while fostering tourism expansion in the rapidly evolving urban landscape.

Successful Completion After Construction Delays

While Noida International Airport was originally set to launch commercial operations by late 2025, various construction delays and regulatory approvals pushed the timeline back. However, in early May 2026, airport authorities confirmed they had secured approval for their Aerodrome Security Program from India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, clearing the path for commercial passenger services to commence.

IndiGo’s operations will be followed by additional services from other Indian carriers, including Akasa Air and Air India Express. Aviation experts predict a steady increase in airline activity at the airport over the upcoming months, driven by rising passenger demand.

Developed by Yamuna International Airport, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, Noida International Airport ranks among India’s largest greenfield airport projects currently under development.

Modern Infrastructure Designed for Future Growth

Noida International Airport will commence with a single runway and a passenger terminal designed to accommodate approximately 12 million travelers annually. However, the airport has ambitious long-term expansion plans aiming to elevate its capacity to over 70 million passengers per year in the future. This will entail the introduction of additional terminals and runways as well as further infrastructure projects responsive to growing passenger traffic and airline operations.

Its strategic location near Delhi and burgeoning urban centers in Uttar Pradesh positions Noida International Airport as a pivotal transportation asset for enhancing both domestic and international connectivity.

Changes in Leadership Ahead of Launch

In preparation for the airport’s commercial debut, significant management changes have taken place. In April 2026, Nitu Samra was appointed as interim CEO, while the board continues its search for a permanent leader. Having previously served as the airport’s Chief Financial Officer since October 2021, her leadership is anticipated to guide the airport through its initial operations.

Former CEO Christoph Schnellmann now serves as executive vice chairman, focusing on the airport’s operational growth trajectory.

The launch of commercial services from Noida International Airport marks a pivotal milestone in India’s aviation and tourism landscape. With a focus on expanding domestic routes, integrating modern infrastructure, and executing long-term development initiatives, the airport is on track to become a critical gateway for travelers across the nation.
