Swiss International Air Lines has officially unveiled a landmark direct service that will link Zurich, Switzerland, with Bengaluru, India. This announcement marks the airline’s inaugural service to southern India and addresses the growing demands of corporate travelers, tech professionals, leisure tourists, and the Indian community residing in Europe. Scheduled to commence on 25 October 2026 and operate until 27 March 2027, this new route enhances the connection between Europe’s financial hub and India’s technology capital, crucial for both business and tourism.

The direct flights will operate five times a week, allowing travelers from Zurich to easily access Bengaluru, complementing Swiss International Air Lines’ existing services to Delhi and Mumbai. This expansion significantly improves travel options between Europe and India for both business and leisure purposes.

This strategic initiative is aligned with Switzerland’s goal of broadening its international aviation presence while catering to the increasing demand for direct routes to Indian economic and cultural centers. The airline expects to attract high-end travelers looking for efficient and convenient options, which will also benefit the substantial Indian expatriate community across Europe. Passengers can look forward to flying on the state-of-the-art Airbus A350, known for its SWISS Senses cabin, offering enhanced comfort and modern amenities ideal for long-haul travel.

Optimized Flight Schedules for All Kinds of Travelers

The flight schedule for this new service is designed with efficiency in mind. Flight LX140 departs Zurich at 1:20 PM, arriving in Bengaluru at 2:55 AM the next day. On the return journey, flight LX141 takes off from Bengaluru at 4:50 AM and lands in Zurich at 10:50 PM the same day. This service operates daily except on Mondays and Wednesdays from Zurich, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from Bengaluru. Such scheduling facilitates timely arrivals for business meetings while providing leisure travelers with exciting weekend trips or extended business stays.

The launch of this route showcases Switzerland’s strategic vision for aviation, establishing Zurich as a vital gateway to southern India and further strengthening economic and technological partnerships between the two regions. Through this new service, Swiss International Air Lines aims to boost tourism, support trade, and encourage collaboration between European and Indian businesses.

Booking Your Tickets: Easy and Accessible

Travelers can start booking tickets for the Zurich–Bengaluru route from 19 May 2026 through swiss.com and various authorized travel agency partners. Additionally, Bengaluru already has direct services to multiple major European cities including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Munich operated by various airlines. Swiss International Air Lines’ new connection adds yet another reliable option for travelers looking for seamless travel experiences.

The addition of this route aligns with Switzerland’s ongoing strategy to expand route networks, ensuring that travelers from Europe to India can enjoy a diverse selection of airlines while maintaining high service standards.

Passenger Experience with Modern Aircraft

The launch of the Airbus A350 on this route is a testament to Swiss International Air Lines’ commitment to passenger comfort and superior service. Travellers can expect the latest SWISS Senses cabin, designed to enhance their travel experience with ergonomically crafted seating, upgraded dining options, and advanced entertainment systems, ensuring that long-haul flights are both enjoyable and productive. This move exemplifies the airline’s focus on sustainability and operational efficiency.

Winter Schedule Updates and Network Planning

While launching the Zurich–Bengaluru service, Swiss International Air Lines will temporarily reduce certain routes from Geneva due to ongoing global supply chain challenges affecting the Airbus A220 fleet. Flights from Geneva to Berlin, Hamburg, and Pristina are paused for the 2026/27 winter season. Despite these temporary adjustments, the airline has scheduled operations to 88 destinations, including 24 intercontinental flights to and from Zurich and Geneva.

This new route reflects Switzerland’s focused aviation strategy, catering to passenger demand while maintaining connectivity to critical economic and tourism centers.

A Leap Forward for Europe–India Connectivity

The introduction of this new service reinforces Swiss International Air Lines’ dedication to fostering connections between Europe and India’s burgeoning metropolitan landscapes. By establishing a direct flight pathway between Zurich and Bengaluru, the airline effectively assists business travelers and leisure tourists while enhancing cultural exchange and trade between the two regions. The service supports Bengaluru’s role as a central hub for technology and innovation, making it a valuable addition to SWISS’ Indian route network.

As international travel resumes and demand surges, the expansion exemplifies Switzerland’s efforts to maintain its competitive stance in long-haul travel, while strengthening economic and cultural ties with India. With modern aircraft, thoughtful scheduling, and premium service, Swiss International Air Lines is poised to lead in Europe–India aviation.

The launch of the direct flights from Zurich to Bengaluru stands as a significant milestone for Swiss International Air Lines, presenting unmatched convenience and comfort for corporate and leisure travelers alike. This initiative not only enriches travel opportunities but also focuses on sustainable and efficient aviation practices, paving the way for future advancements in intercontinental travel quality.
