Previously, toll operations incurred costs near to 15 percent, whereas this new digital approach may lower operational expenditures to approximately 3 to 4 percent. Moreover, integrating technology is expected to enhance traffic monitoring capabilities and aid authorities in effectively identifying violations or inconsistencies in payment.

Simplified Transactions for FASTag Users

Under the MLFF system, highway users need to ensure their FASTag accounts maintain a sufficient balance to guarantee uninterrupted travel. If a FASTag becomes invalid, inactive, or lacks sufficient funds, users may be issued an electronic notice prompting payment within a specified time. Such notices can be easily accessed through an online portal, and users are also encouraged to address grievances digitally when necessary.

This fully digital process is designed to streamline toll transactions while minimizing physical interactions and cumbersome paperwork for travelers.
