Fiji tourism seeing positive trend

Fiji is constantly in demand from tourists from Australia in spite of reports of Aussie travellers finding international travel hard.


Over one in three travellers from Australia don’t have enough money to travel foreign locations because of the rising airfares and a crisis in cost-of-living, as per the findings published by Finder, a price comparison site, last month.


However, the national tourist office of Fiji explained that it has seen a decoupling trend where people are selecting to travel in spite of tough situation financially in other regions.


Tourism Fiji stated that the tourist numbers from Australia to the country continues to grow up.


It said that Aussies who came to Fiji in the first five months of this year arrived at an imposing count of 158,755, representing their constant love for their gorgeous destinations.


Their expected spending of about $FJ560 million not only displays their promise to get familiar with the best of Fiji but emphasizes the involvement of Australian visitors to their tourism industry as well.


It mentioned that Fiji was positioned among world’s top 10 countries for Australian travellers planning for a holiday in the coming three years.


It said that from Australia to Fiji, visitor arrivals are seeing constructive trends and rise in popularity.

Türkiye hopes to see a major boom in health tourism

Türkiye has witnessed a huge increase in the numbers related to medical tourists as the country perks up initiations to improve health tourism sector.

The number of visitors to Türkiye in the initial three months of this year, in terms of health and medical reasons have risen by almost 37.5 percent compared to the same time last year, as per the head of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, Firuz Baglikaya, in a recent interview with the Anadolu Agency.


Baglikaya mentioned that in 2023, they hope to welcome over 1.8 million medical tourists who would mean almost 30 percent increase from the year before.


Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President, on some recent occasions promised to develop his country into a world center when it comes to healthcare.


Erdogan stated that they are strong-minded to turn Türkiye into a global center in terms of healthcare attraction. It won’t be just a provider of services to its residents but also to others, said in April at the opening ceremony of a city hospitalthat is located in Kocaeli, the northwestern province of Türkiye.


The experts and insiders of the industry, to meet with the gals related to the development believed that a sustainable development policy is need of the hour.

Vibrant Guizhou Summer Tourism Promotion goes public

On June 7th, the bright Guizhou Summer Tourism Promotion and Preferential Policies Release Event 2023 happened at the Guizhou Pavilion at the China International Cultural Industries Fair this year. Sabah aiming reawakening cultural and tourism exchange with Xi’an

Sabah is aiming to reawaken its cultural and tourism interchange with Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi area in
Central China, which was disrupted by the restrictions brought in by the pandemic.


Datuk Christina Liew, the state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister visited Xi’an for obtaining the
memorandum of understanding of friendship and cooperation that was inked in 2019 between Kota
Kinabalu and Xi’an.


Liew said that the target is to relink and reinforce the government-to-government association between the two cities. She said that her visit to Xi’an is for restoring mutual tourism collaboration and cultural
interchange. Liew met with Meng Hao, the Vice Mayor of Xi’an.


Liew said that their conversation also covered Xi’an’s possible trade and investment show in Sabah under the newly set up Sabah Convention Bureau (SCB).


The Xi’an municipal government spearhead also decided to lead a delegation for visiting Sabah and tlak
about the improvement of the mutual affiliation.


At the get-together with the Vice Mayor, both parties settled on creating a mutual commission between Sabah Tourism Board and tourism organizations to increase and accelerate tourism doings.


Liew said that this inventiveness will also enable the interchange of thoughts, statistics and proficiency, in
order to elevate the tourism sector.


Meng, in the meantime, urged for forging tourism collaboration by organizing with the Sabah
administration for promoting both the cities.

Greece introduces crowd control initiative

The Acropolis, a famous emblem of old Greece, is currently seeing a new age challenge as record numbers of visitors are damaging its charm. With the increase in sightseers since pandemic and disorganized entrance way, the government of Greece has decided to take action on implementing
control measures in terms of crowd.


The cultural minister of Greece, Lina Mendoni, lately declared that new steps will be enforced completely by the end of July. This measure comes in response to an astounding rise in visits of 80 percent during June and early July compared to 2019. To control the overcrowding issue, authorities are planning to bring in a system of time-slot, for organized tourist groups there will be fast-lane entry points, and electronic ticketing system.


These steps are set to deal with the rising overcrowding caused by the huge cruise ships and their arrivals that drop off thousands of travelers at the close by Piraeus port. As per a report from Guardian, the president of the Federation of Hellenic Associations, Lysandros Tsilidis, highly praised this decision, stressing the considerable rise in number of passengers related to cruise ships who buy tickets beforehand to visit the Acropolis.


The Acropolis, as the most visited site in Greece, at present attracts more than 17,000 visitors on an everyday basis.

Fake video campaign has no impact on tourist flow

For tourism stakeholders in Philippines, its business as on Sunday, they emphasized that the disagreement over the new branding campaign of the Department of Tourism did not impact travelers’ interest to come to this country.


The president of the Philippine Tour Operators’ Association, Fe Abling-Yu, said in a recent radio interview that tourists from abroad kept on flocking to the country in spite of the mess that was created around the Love the Philippines campaign, followed by extensive anger and made headlines in foreign media after it was discovered that a promotional video of Philippines made use of stock footage in terms of tourist destinations of other foreign locations.


As tourism slogans someway helped in their efforts related to tourism, Abling-Yu said Philtoa did not depended on the new slogan that much.


She said that they can do it from their end, from the private sector, but of course, the target of DOT is to encourage tourism to everyone. Also, President Marcos has talked about that contracting with the advertising agency got terminated and the matter is being examined thoroughly.


When questioned if there were travelers or tourist groups who said no to their scheduled trips to the Philippines after the video brouhaha, Abling-Yu said that nothing of that sort happened.

More flight services from China to Melbourne to boost tourism

Every week, world’s one of the largest airlines in China will add 10 additional flight services to Melbourne.

This would be bringing greater number of tourists, allowing more exports and generating more job opportunities.

For this, thanks to the help and support from the Andrews Labor Government.


Today, the minister for industry and innovation, Ben Carroll, declared that on a per week basis, China Southern Airlines by the end of 2024 from Guangzhou province will operate 17 non-stop flight services to Melbourne and potentially Shenzhen.


Supported by the Labor Government and Melbourne Airport, the additional10 flight services every week will add approximately 154,000 seats to Melbourne and every year, this move will contribute over $308
million to the Victorian financial system, as developing an estimated 1,700 jobs in tourism and aviation.


At present, on a daily basis, China Southern operates flights to Melbourne Airport from Guangzhou, one of the largest cities in China and the main transport and business center.

By November, the airline will introduce two daily flights and on a weekly basis, add three more flights from either Guangzhou or Shenzhen, located close by December 2024.


From China, the additional flight services will help speed up the return of visitors which was the largest foreign tourism market in 2019 in Victoria with over 675,000 visitors contributing $3.4 billion to the domestic financial system.

Korea Tourism Organization launches travel products on K-theme

On Friday, KTO i.e. Korea Tourism Organization, has revealed forty nine products related to travel and tourism, with the product designs based on K-drama and K-pop themes.


From musical icons to the most popular Korean TV shows- inspirations have been drawn from all Korean entertainment shows while designing these tourism and travel product.


As per the statements from Korea Tourism Organization, these travel products are primarily focused on 51hallyu-themed tourism course, indicating towards the present-day uprising popularity of Korean
popculture, also known as K-wave.


While one product includes a five-day tour plan themed around touring visiting places that are associated with the most popular icons of K-pop: BTS, another product involves travelling to places that became fan
favorites, after they were shown on popular Korean dramas like “About 30 kilometers south of Seoul”,“Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon”, and many more.


Thanks to K-wave and the popularity of Korean songs and shows, viewers across the world, especially the young audiences are now beginning to view South Korea as a popular country, which is the residing place for pop icons such as PSY, BTS and many others.

Tourism boom in Iraq during Eid holiday
